Meet Georgie - CCW's 2025 Arts and Culture Captain

I joined CCW halfway through Year Ten in 2023 and quickly adapted to life at the College. One of the defining moments for me was watching the production of Singin’ in the Rain from the front row—I knew then that I wanted to be on stage. Performance has always been a consistent part of my school life, and it became clear that I had a deep passion for the performing arts.

In Year Eleven, I truly found my place through active involvement in the arts program. I have a strong appreciation for all areas of the arts—visual art, music, and drama. This year, I have the exciting opportunity to play Sophie in Mamma Mia, and I’m thrilled to bring this character to life during my final year at school.

Through the music program, I connected with Eliza Murrells (Class of 2024), whose role as Arts and Culture Portfolio Captain inspired me. At the end of 2024, I began applying for leadership positions, including School Captain, House Captain, and Portfolio Captain. I was honoured to be selected as the Arts and Culture Captain.

In this role, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with other captains through our fortnightly Student Voice meetings, where we’ve developed initiatives to enhance each of our portfolios. One of my proudest achievements so far has been launching the fortnightly lunchtime musical performances. These sessions have been well received, and the sense of community they’ve built is something I deeply value.

A key part of my mission as Arts and Culture Captain is to foster a strong, connected community through the arts. The lunchtime performances were the first step toward this, and my next goal is to showcase visual art. With each newsletter release, I plan to highlight the incredible talent of our students, celebrating the pride they take in their creative work.

Looking ahead, my vision is to ensure a smooth and successful handover to the 2026 Captain and to see the arts program continue to thrive and grow within our school community.
