The STRIVE Program aims to assist talented student-athletes to achieve at the highest levels of performance in their various sports and to help them with their personal education and vocational development.

It is widely recognised that Sport, Health and Physical Education play an important part in an individual's holistic growth and development. Cathedral College Wangaratta's Athlete Development Program, STRIVE, offers students the opportunity to develop these skills further.

The STRIVE Program in 2026

STRIVE Program AFL

The STRIVE Program caters for students in Years Eight to Twelve. The program aims to assist talented student-athletes to achieve at the highest levels of performance in their various sports and assist them with their personal education and vocational development.

Students in the program commit to a double period per week out of the classroom. This will be Periods 6 and 7 on the given day for their chosen sport. The sessions will include skill development, game craft, and Strength and Conditioning in the gym.

Time allocation includes four School Periods per fortnight - Minimum eligibility criteria is selection in Murray Bushrangers V-Line (Year Nine) teams.

Students are required to complete an Essential Agreement committing to the program and to one gym session per week outside of the set times. Students will complete a weekly nutrition, recovery and training journal to track their progress throughout the year.

Students are selected via fixed criteria for each sport. This may vary depending on the sport and the pathways available outside of school.
