Casual/Ad hoc Travel

Please read this overview that summarises casual travel:

Casual Bus Travel

At Cathedral College Wangaratta, over 700 students travel to and from school by bus. We are committed to child safety and have implemented strict guidelines to ensure the well-being of our students and others during bus travel.

Students are allocated a seat on the relevant bus that travels to and from their residential address.

As a Duty of Care, if a student needs to change buses, all changes must be made in writing via email to the Bus Coordinator: hhope@cathedralcollege.vic.edu.au at least 2 days prior to travel, between the hours of 9.00 am to 4.00pm.

This allows time to confirm if a seat is available on an alternate bus, for the bus company and Bus Coordinator to be a aware of student numbers allocated to each bus.

This is also important for the safety of students travelling to and from school that the bus company and Bus Coordinator are aware of casual travellers in the case of an emergency.

Parent Responsibility

Parents/carers are responsible for transporting their children to and from authorised bus stops for the safety of their children while waiting for the bus. It is important that parents waiting for bus passengers at a roadside bus stop wait on the same side of the road as the bus to prevent accidents.

Homeline

Homeline, located at the front of the College Junior School along Wangaratta-Whitfield Road, is where students can be dropped off and picked up at school. We have designed a car park that allows students to be picked up/dropped off in a timely matter with a pick-up/drop-off zone where parents/guardians drive by to drop off/pick up students without having to park. There is also the opportunity for parents/carers to park their car and collect their child.

We ask that you cooperate with this system and do not park your car in the pick up zone and then proceed to collect your child.

It is our intention to make the car park operate as safely and efficiently as possible. In order to achieve this, we ask all parents/carers to be patient and understanding of the busy times and to be mindful of children around the car park.

Cycle to School

Students living in close proximity to the College are encouraged to ride their bikes to school along the bike paths and leave their bikes in the bike racks on campus. Students should provide their own lock.
